IBM LSP Version 1.35
--------------------
This is a complete product replacement and therefore should only
be distributed to customers with Version 1.3x of LSP.
This package is made up of the following files:
LSP135 DOC - Document
LSP135 DSK - 3.5" 1.44Mb File
The file once downloaded with the binary option, needs to
be unpacked using LOADDSKF onto a 3.5" 1.44Mb diskette.
For installation and support information see:
- the READ.ME file on the product diskette for general information.
OVERVIEW HIGHLIGHTS
The IBM Local Area Network (LAN) Support Program Version 1.35
provides Network Basic Input/Output System (NETBIOS) and IEEE 802.2
software interfaces to support network application programs that
utilize network adapters on the IBM Token-Ring Network, the
broadband IBM PC Network, and the baseband IBM PC Network, Ethernet
networks and IBM FDDI Networks.
It supports the function and operational environment of the
IBM Local Area Network Support Program Version 1.2 (96X5678) and
extends this support to the IBM FDDI adapter.
The Local Area Network (LAN) Support Program Version 1.3 has
been extended to support the IBM Fiber Distributed Data Interface
(FDDI) network through the addition of IEEE 802.5 Network Device
Interface Specification (NDIS) support.
The installation aid has been redesigned to provide easier
NDIS adapter configuration.
PROGRAMMING REQUIREMENTS
o IBM PC Disk Operating System (DOS) Version 3.3, 4.0 or 5.0.
o For Ethernet cards, an NDIS device driver. The drivers are not
available with the IBM LAN Support Program.
o For FDDI cards, an NDIS device driver. The drivers are not
available with the IBM LAN Support Program.
CONTENTS of FIXES.DAT
This file contains the list of fixes that have been made to the
IBM LAN Support Program since Version 1.3.
LAN SUPPORT PROGRAM VERSION 1.35
Please refer to the READ.ME file on the Install diskette for a list of
enhancements in LAN Support Program Version 1.35.
DXME0MOD.SYS
LP01063 Fixed DXME0MOD.SYS to set the maximum number of data
blocks across the NDIS interface to 8 (the NDIS specification
says 8 is the minimum value for this field). This prevents
transmits from failing with a x'23' return code if an NDIS
MAC driver incorrectly reports that it supports less than
8 data blocks.
LP01064 Fixed DXME0MOD.SYS to work correctly with the Alt-Break key
sequence for PC/3270.
LP01065 Updated DXME0MOD.SYS to use the DOS function calls to set
the timer interrupt vector. This fixes a hang problem
that occurs on some Value point machines when using RIPL
with DXME0MOD.SYS.
LP01067 Updated the network status path in DXME0MOD.SYS. This
corrects the problem where subsequent network statues are
note reported when the adapter is reopened after a network
status causes the adapter to close.
LAN SUPPORT PROGRAM VERSION 1.34
Please refer to the READ.ME file on the Install diskette for a list of
enhancements in LAN Support Program Version 1.34.
DXME0MOD.SYS
HS00520 Increased the maximum value of the MAX_I_FIELD parameter in the
DLC.OPEN.SAP command from 4,905 to 17,954. This change was to
support the maximum size frame that can be sent on a 16 mbps
token- ring network.
LAN SUPPORT PROGRAM VERSION 1.33
Please refer to the Local Area Network Support Program Version 1.33
User's Guide or READ.ME file on the Install diskette for a list of
enhancements in LAN Support Program Version 1.33.
DXMC0MOD.SYS AND DXMC1MOD.SYS
HS00429 Corrected a problem that may happen when using an IBM Token-Ring
16/4 Adapter /A short card. The problem is that a DLC.CONNECT
may fail to complete if the connect is not successful.
Corrected a problem found when using NOVELL RIPL.
The extended DIR.STATUS table has been updated to support
the NDIS LLC Support flag.
DXME0MOD.SYS
LP01040 DXME0MOD.SYS was updated to set all interface flags in its
lower dispatch table. DXME0MOD.SYS was also updated to
return a "FRAME FORWARD" return code in all frames received.
LP01041 DXME0MOD.SYS was updated to support the X command line
parameter. This parameter forces the old Ethernet adapter
type to be used for Ethernet adapters. The X parameter is
needed to be compatible with applications running on Ethernet
that look for the old Ethernet adapter type (such as AS/400
PC Support Version 2, Release 2 and earlier, and Netware's
LANSUP.COM).
HS00437 DXME0MOD.SYS has been updated to NOT issue a ResetMAC to
the MAC driver on DIR.INITIALIZE. It has also been
updated so that a Close Adapter request will not be issued
to the MAC driver for DIR.CLOSE.ADAPTER or DIR.INITIALIZE.
This allows coexistence with multiple NDIS Protocol Stacks.
HS00465 Corrected DIR.READ.LOG errors with IBM Token-Ring 16/4
Adapter II.
PL00123 DXME0MOD.SYS has changed the way it processes Network Status
changes to the application so that a status change of zero
can be handled correctly.
LP01049 DXME0MOD.SYS has been changed to fix the way Interrupt
Requests are issued when using ODINSUP on Token-Ring.
Extended DIR.STATUS table has been updated to support the
NDIS LLC Support flag.
DXMG0MOD.SYS AND DXMG1MOD.SYS
Extended DIR.STATUS table has been updated to support the NDIS LLC
Support flag.
DXMT0MOD.SYS
LP01042 Corrected the problem where an NCB.HANGUP is issued immediately
after NCB.CALL and the NCB.HANGUP never completes.
LP01043 Corrected the problem where DXMT0MOD.SYS is loaded from a
path containing a period and the error message "DXMT0 06:
Error reading message file (DXM.MSG)" is displayed even
though DXM.MSG is present.
LP01045 Corrected the problem where a network error occurs that closes
adapter and pending NCBs never complete.
LP01050 Corrected errors when running with PiggyBack Ack on. The
problem will go away when the keyboard PBA=0 is added to
the DXMT0MOD command line.
LP01051 Corrected the problem where an NCB.SEND is issued immediately
after NCB.CALL on very fast machines and the NCB.SEND
does not complete successfully.
LP01053 Corrected the problem where an NCB.RECEIVE completes with x'06'
return code, but the returned value in the NCB.LENGTH field is
smaller than the value of the NCB.LENGTH field when the
command was issued.
DXMAID.EXE
PL00105 Added a specific error message for DXMAID for not enough
memory to load the message file.
HS00383 DXMAID.EXE was updated to support NIFs with no parameters.
HS00456 DXMAID.EXE was corrected to treat CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT
without a terminating x'0D' or x'0A' properly.
